Piano

Pianos are widely used in Western music, in either solo, ensemble, chamber performances or as an accompaniment. The piano is very popular for all people of different ages and gender. It is also one of the most familiar musical instruments.

The piano is known to be part of both the percussion and stringed instruments. The one down side to a piano is the expense and the fact that they are not portable like a keyboard is.

They way in which a piano works is that when you press one of the keys is causes a felt covered hammer to hit the steel strings, the hammer rebounds after hitting the string allowing to continue to vibrate. When the key is released, a damper stops the strings vibrations.
