The alto saxophone is in the key of E flat and is played one octave higher than the baritone saxophone. The alto sax is medium in size and is one of the most commonly played.

 SOPRANO SAXOPHONE

The soprano saxophone is in the key of B flat, which I one octave higher than the tenor sax. There two different shapes for the soprano sax; straight and curved, the most commonly used today is the straight saxophone.

BARITONE SAXOPHONE

The baritone saxophone is the largest out of the four different saxophones. It is in the key of E flat which is exactly one octave lower than the alto sax. Even though it is a bass instrument, the music for it is written in the treble clef.

The tenor saxophone is in the key of B flat, and is one octave lower than the soprano saxophone. This type of saxophone is larger than the alto, but also has a larger neck which can be more easily damaged.
