VIOLINS

The violin is a bowed string instrument that has four strings that are tuned in perfect fifths. It has the highest pitch and is the smallest out of the cello and viola.

There are two main types of violins which are acoustic and electric.

Acoustic violins; are generally used by beginners and don’t have any amplification to make them louder.

Electric violins; are more for advanced violin players. The sound that an electric violin makes is a lot sharper than the sound of an acoustic violin.

Violins can also be classified it to era/periods. There are three types of violins that come under this category. The baroque violin, the classical violin, and the modern violin.

Baroque violin; this violin had a smaller angles neck and didn’t have good chin and shoulder rests, they also has all their strings done up to the same tension.

Classical violin; this type of violin has a thinner neck and smaller chin and shoulder rests, which made it easier for the player to hold and use.

Modern violin; the modern violin had a neck that was sharply angled. In this violin the strings were tuned higher than the baroque and the classical violin.
